I Haven’t Visited My Village Because Those Who Burnt My House May Kill Me – Joe Igbokwe
Joe Igbokwe, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Drainage and Water Resources, has expressed concerns regarding his safety.
During a recent interview with Tunde Ajaja on Punch News, the APC Chieftain shed more light on why he has been unable to visit his village after his house was set ablaze by some assailants last year.
You may recall that Joe Igbokwe’s house in the Nnewi area of Anambra State was reportedly set ablaze by unknown attackers in October last year. Igbokwe recently recalled the incident while expressing support for the Igbo presidency.
Discussing his ordeal, Joe Igbokwe said, “I advised our leaders to travel to the West, North, and South and consult with other people, because whoever emerges will not be the sole president of the South-East. What exactly did they do? They went to burn down my house, accusing me of being a traitor. A few million will not be enough to rebuild the house and its contents. I haven’t been to the village since October of last year, as I am speaking to you. If the perpetrators of that crime see me, they may kill me. Are you going to kill your siblings because they told you the truth? So I’m for the Igbo presidency, which is long overdue.
