Public interest crusader and PR expert, Great Imo Jonathan, whose voice is always heard in issues relating to government, politics, socio-economy and what have you, a supporter of President Buhari’s government, has condemned the barbaric act of overzealous Police officers who used tear-gas to disrupt the Charly Boy led peaceful protest against Buhari’s long absence from office.
Hear him, “Tear-gassing peaceful protesters in a democratic government is unacceptable. The use of brute force undermines the principles of change we fought for, and especially the freedom for expression that forms the basis of modern society.
The tenet of democracy consists of freedom of expression under the law; nothing can justify their violation.
The use of brute force against peaceful protesters by the police deliberately undermines the government of APC led by President Buhari, currently under Prof Osibanjo’s watch.
I am a supporter of this government and I am old enough to say things the way they are. I don’t support the use of force against peaceful protesters; we should make use of superior ideas.
Indeed a nation governed by law is better than a nation governed by men. Let’s be circumspect.”
He’s sure right about this submission. I hope our officers should work within their statutory jurisdiction
