Friday 16th June 2017 was a day set aside by the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy to brief a section of the media on the progress so far made by the Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode led administration which just marked its second year in office alongside the 50th anniversary of the creation of the land of aquatic beauty and the land of tremendous success story for all.
The amiable Hon. Commissioners for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde welcomed some bloggers and media personalities who were in attendance by thanking them for their support towards Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode and his formidable team.
The event, which had in attendance seasoned journalists, who have, all at one time or the other, carved a name for themselves in main stream journalism before venturing into the online business, was very insightful as the honourable commissioner reeled out the achievements of the government, its challenges and possible ways of charting the way forward in partnership with media practitioners.
Security was one of the most-talked about issue during the deliberation that was filled with humour, Ayorinde, like the informed journalist that he is, took his time to point out some salient issues on security as it affects all the inhabitants of Lagos State, according to him, education and security is one of the most jealously guided aspect of Gov Ambode’s administration, which explains why so much is being expended on that sector. As he said, “it is only when there is peace and security of lives and property that the work of Gov. Ambode can be effectively felt among the citizenry, stressing that the safety of the people both young and old ultimately is the security of the administration.
In the area of provision of other social amenities, the mid-term score sheet is very intimidating while work is going on in full force to ensure even spread of the dividends of good governance Gov Ambode promised before coming into office.
The commissioner assured his guests that no stone will be left unturned to rid the state of crime and criminals as the state continues its march towards achieving and maintaining the status of a mega city as it opens its doors wide for would-be investors to come and be a part of the Lagos success story which has come into its second phase.
